Candle Holder Thomson

The Met x Eichholtz presents the Candle Holder Thomson, an homage to American silversmithing crafted in an elegant, antiqued silver finish.

Based on a candlestick by William Thomson (American, 1777–1833), a silversmith active in New York during the first half of the 19th century, this piece brings Federal-era refinement into the present day. Its slender profile, delicate detailing, and sophisticated silhouette reflect the understated grandeur of the original, though it seamlessly adapts to contemporary interiors. Whether displayed alone or in a pair, the Candle Holder Thomson adds a stately accent to mantelpieces, dining tables, or curated shelves.

INSPIRATION

This candle holder is inspired by a candlestick created by the New York–based silversmith William Thomson (American, 1777–1833) around 1825. Thomson’s work reflects the refinement and craftsmanship of the Federal period in American decorative arts. Thomson’s legacy is celebrated here with a timeless accent that bridges past and present.
